News & Interviews / Re: Blockchain Gaming News
« Last post by sirwagginston on September 18, 2018, 11:34:54 PM »
The Blockchain Gaming News broadcast today has been rescheduled due to Alex ("Doge" on the forum) getting a full-time crypto job at Symetria. Everyone please congratulate him for completing the 12 Steps and weaning himself off of fiat employment, the beginning of a cleaner lifestyle.

As a result, the News broadcast will now be on Fridays once a month (still at 1 PM), in-between each Meetup broadcast. Simply put, we will have a broadcast every second Friday, alternating between the Meetups and the News segments. The next News segment is therefore on September 28, right when we get back from the Blockchain Game Summit.

Since we've got a thread updating everyone about our website on a couple other forums, already, I figured it made sense to put one here, as well. It will also give us a place to mention stuff here that doesn't fit well on other boards.

For example, we just launched our Telegram group! We'll be watching it for questions during broadcasts, so it's a good place to hang out during our News segments and our Meetups. Or just whenever you're bored--we love talking about blockchain games. Check it out: https://t.me/joinchat/GXsLrgzQqVl_bidxCmNUuQ

Every 3 weeks, Friday 7 PM Pacific time, www.blockchaingaming.com is going to host a Meetup in Vancouver going over a blockchain-based video game in detail, with overviews, demos and Q&As. Each event will be livestreamed to YouTube, with remote viewers encouraged to follow along and ask questions in the chatroom as we gradually test out every blockchain game on the market.

Our first Meetup broadcast will be September 14 and cover Spells of Genesis, one of the first blockchain games to be released having ICO'd years ago. A variety of Meetup groups have been invited and you can RSVP on Facebook, as well. Links:

Blockchain Games / CryptoFights.io - 3D RPG Fighting Game
« Last post by CryptoFights on August 28, 2018, 10:58:21 PM »
At its core CryptoFights is a 1vs1 turn based fighting game. Imagine a turn based street fighter but with weapons and armor that you can change to out match your opponent.

New players start as a low level fighter and must win matches to earn XP and gold. XP can then be used to level up their fighter making them stronger with more ability points to allocate. Gold can be used to buy new weapons and armor from the marketplace to give your fighter the edge it needs. As your fighter levels up you will enter new arenas to battle, getting you higher level rewards.

Fighting a match is heavily based on dice rolls to introduce some element of luck and randomness to both players. The first round there is an initiative roll to see who goes first. After that the rounds go like this.

ATTACK ROLL
This roll is to see if you land a hit on your opponent.

DAMAGE ROLL
This roll is to see how much damage you cause.

CRITICAL HITS
This happens when you roll a 20 on the attack roll. You get to roll the damage roll twice for double damage.

Players can equip on both hands, so they can duel wield or use a sword and shield. Certain weapons cause specific damage that can be mitigated by the opponents armor choice. For example daggers causing piercing damage while mauls cause bludeging damage. A fighter with high agility has a higher chance to dodge the attack also.

Players have to strategize on how to customize their fighter before battling it out with other players. This causes deep strategy on what items to buy, how to configure their fighter, and who to challenge. We are also introducing on the first release special weapon and armor properties such as poison or flame damage as well as special defense abilities of armor.

We plan on having many items released via generations. First generation will be the presale.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Just a crotchety old man trying to mine some Bitcoins

Might as well since all the other stuff is self taught, but this coding thing is like trying to understand aliens when your brain is so old, dry and smooth as an egg.  :o
I know the feeling so well, I'm trying to crack into C# (self taught) and while some things look logical enough, other times I feel like it would be easier to unravel the mysteries of the universe when it comes to learning coding!
It's hard to become a good coder! I dropped out of school for it, but I want to try again one day when I'm less busy. Right now I can only make text adventures with C++, no graphics or networking or anything.
