The GeoCoin project has created a real world scavenger hunt rewarded with cryptocurrency.  The $GEO token is an ERC 20 token hosted on the Ubiq network with a maximum coin supply of 4,000,000 GEO.  By combining geocaching technology with the blockchain, users are able to 'mine' GEO through a process called Proof-of-Location (PoL).  Simply login, turn on your smartphone GPS and navigate to the nearest GEO location to start collecting.  Once the user is within 5 meters (15 feet) the GEO will be automatically collected off the Map.

Once you have collected GEO, users are able to drag and drop GEO on to the Map for other users to collect.  This creates a fun blockchain gaming user experience which rewards individuals for staying active by promoting outdoor sports and recreation activities.  You can drop GEO anywhere on the Map, whether that be your store or business location, an event or festival, along a trail or within a park to promote travel and tourism.  The applications are endless!

The concept of geocaching has grown significantly in popularity since getting started around year 2000.  Since then millions of geocaches have been dropped worldwide and there are millions of avid geocachers.  One goal of the GeoCoin project is to promote the mass adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology with a focus on removing barriers of entry into the crypto space.  Simply login, walk down the street and collect your first cryptocurrency!

Let's keep it GEOing!  8)
